Here's the tree after a few rounds of airbrushing. He's borrowing the leaf-topper from the original tree ( which is pictured ...topless...behind him:) )

Peter Hart Puppet Show!
We were lucky to be able to see Peter perform his puppet show at the Decatur Library last night! Before the "cat-a-pult" trick, he said "Everyone get your cameras out!" so I did, and here's a few of my best shots! (Joy and neighbor Briley are standing with the unicorn marionettes at the bottom of the collage.)
Tree puppet
So, I'm collaborating with Peter Hart to build puppets for a show about water conservation. They needed a talking "Musclewood" tree. My husband Paul figured out and built the PVC pipe/mouth moving mechanism , Peter taught me how to paper mache, and turned styrofoam packing material off the street into a tree trunk! After lots of masking tape, more styrofoam bits , and shaping with an electric carving knife, I had this! (Felt pinned on just as a test....)

The Wild Onion!!
This is the restaurant across the street from the dorms where we got to have a drink and relax before bed. Pam always had a lovely and delicious spread for us to enjoy! Fabulous place!!! (I was so busy laughing and drinking, I didn't get too many photo's......oh well!) Also fun, each night the performers from the evening before had to bartend for us. I can't wait to go back for more!

Hello from Trenton!
Hi all! I'm in Trenton Missouri enjoying Puppet Fest Midwest! I am in script writing class all day with Luman Coad, then we see a great puppet show, then we all gather for a few drinks at The Wild Onion cafe across the street from campus. I'm learning a lot, and meeting wonderful people. I have three puppets on display at the exhibit....Amy Winehouse (rod puppet), Edna (mouth puppet), and a cat car-wash-mitt puppet. (All can be seen on this very Blog! ) I stood by my display at the exhibit yesterday, answered questions, and got lots of compliments! By Saturday night I must have a 5 minute skit ready to perform with Edna at the "open mic" show called "bits and pieces late night cabaret". I'm pretty nervous to perform for a room full of professional puppeteers, but I know they will be a kind, supportive audience! Also on Saturday I'll get to try and sell my sock and carwash mitt puppets at the "swap-and shop". Wish me luck, I don't want to have to lug all those puppets home again!
That's all for now! ----Heidi
